Wai-O-Tapu

The next day in Rotorua was pretty great. Our first stop was Wai-O-Tapu. We decided to rent a car for the day because a few places we wanted to visit were a bit further away and there was no public transport there. It was quite cheap ($59, including insurance) but at first we had some difficulties to rent it… I didn’t have my international licence with me and Milena was too young to drive the rental car. The lady at the rental company said she can’t rent the car for us without the licence but luckily her boss was also there and he said he likes Finnish people so it was fine with just the Finnish licence. :D  We were so lucky.

Wai-O-Tapu is a volcanic area with thermal pools and geysers. Over there we spent about three hours walking around and we also went to see the eruption of the Lady Geyser. We thought it was gonna be natural but one of the employees there had to drop some natural soap to the geyser for it to erupt. It was cool but it would’ve been cooler if it happened naturally.
